FWEL: Wasteful Olila Held at Home by Ajax Queens

The highly anticipated top table clash in Victoria group between Olila High School and Ajax Queens lived to the billing as the two teams played to a draw in a thrilling encounter.

In the game played at Olila High School playground in Soroti district on Tuesday, clinic second placed Ajax Queens had to come from a goal down to salvage a point against third placed Olila High School who were wasteful on the day.

Norah Alupo gave the hosts the lead beating Ajax’s defence to head home past goalkeeper Namakula “Zaza” Gloria.

Alupo jumped high to node home Ritah Nabossa’s cross from a corner kick as the former Western United midfielder registered her 6th assist of the season.

However, symptoms on form striker Carol “Museezi” Nakyanzi levelled the matters moments later capitalising on a defence lapse by Olila.

Nakyanzi tapped home past onrushing goalkeeper Angella Ruseo from Bridget Nabisaalu’s free kick.

Olila had themselves to blame for failure to regain their lead missing several chances with Fazilah Ikwaput and Ritah Nabossa culpable on the day.


The result means Olila remain third on 14 points while Ajax Queens are second on 17 points, two behind group leaders Uganda Martyr’s.

However, Ajax Queens have a chance of ascending to the summit of Victoria group if they win against Eastern Heroes today (Wednesday).
