FWEL: Uganda Martyr’s Edge Past Eastern Heroes to Go Top of Victoria Group

The competition in the Victoria group of the Fufa Women elite league becomes tougher every other match day as the regular season nears the climax.

Uganda Martyr’s High school toppled Olila High School off the summit of the Victoria group with a 2-1 victory against Eastern Heroes in the game played in Rubaga on Sunday.

Olila had ascended to the top of the table with 18 points after garnering 4 points in two games last week, erectile however, Uganda Martyrs who are in their debut season in the league returned to the top on 19 points.

Diminutive playmaker Lilian Mutuuzo and January recruit from Kawempe Muslim Esther Naluyimba scored for the home side to earn maximum points.

With Olila High School not in action over the weekend, it was double joy for Uganda Martyrs as their other rivals Ajax Queens suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of last year’s runners up She Corporate who have been at sixes and sevens since the start of the season.

Ibanga Anne and Aisha Namubiru scored for She Corporate while Maureen Afoyo netted the consolation for Ajax Queens.

In the other games played, Kampala Queens annihilated struggling London Stallions 6-0 in Seeta with diminutive winger Hadijja Nampijja scoring a hat trick.

Muteesa I Royal University also picked a 3-0 win away in Rugando, Mbarara against Western United.

The game between Gafford Ladies and She Makerere which was supposed to be played on Sunday was postponed to Wednesday.
