FWEL: Kawempe, UCU Win as Gafford Ladies Falter Again

Defending champions Kawempe Muslim ended the first round on high with a comprehensive win against struggling side Western United.

Kawempe humiliated Western United 5-0 in their own backyard at Rugando playground in Mbarara to end the first round with 7 wins in 7 games.

Reigning female footballer Hasifa Nassuna scored four goals to help Ayub Khalifa’s charges earn maximum points. The other goal was scored by midfielder Esther Naluyimba.

The two time league winners now have 21 points in 7 games in the Elizabeth group.

UCU Lady Cardinals cemented their stay in the second spot. Phoebe Banura and Jacky Nankya (brace) scored for the University side as they outwitted Kampala queens 3-1 at Villa park.

Muteesa I Royal University suffered a second loss in a space of four days falling 2-0 to Riness at home.

Gafford Ladies’ quest for a win this season still goes on as the Kanyanya based side were held to a stalemate by Eastern Heroes in Soroti.

She Corporate and Olila High school also played to a goalless draw.
