FUFA Women’s Cup
Muteesa I Royal University 1(4)-1(5) She Corporate
She Corporate will play UCU Lady Cardinals in the final of this year’s FUFA Women’s Cup. This comes after eliminating Muteesa I Royal University in the semifinals.
The Nakawa based side edged past Muteesa 6-4 in the penalty shoot out after normal time had ended in a one all draw in the game played at Wankulukuku stadium on Thursday.
Striker Noeline Namiiro fired She Corporate into an early lead with a beauty just inside the area but the hosts responded through midfielder Habiba Nakayobyo towards the end the first stanza.
Despite efforts from either side on the second stanza, there were no more goals hence implying that the game had to be determined on kicks from the spot.
Experienced goalkeeper Fatuma ‘Kim’ Matovu rose to the occasion in the tense shoot out saving twice before converting the winner to send She Corporate to the final.
The former Crested Cranes shot stopper denied Favour Nambatya and Margret Namirimu and went ahead to convert the final kick.
Noeline Namiiro, Alice Kalimba, Penina Akuku, Sarah Namulindwa also converted for She Corporate with Florence Imanizabayo missing while Margaret Birabwa, Sharifah Naiga, Elizabeth Nakigozi and Najembe Precious successfully negotiated their kicks for Muteesa I Royal University.
She Corporate will now face UCU Lady Cardinals in the final. The latter knocked out holders Olila Women FC in the other semifinal.
This year’s final is slated for 23rd June at Kabwohe grounds in Bushenyi District.
