FUFA Women’s Cup reigning champions Olila High School began their title defence on a high eliminating hapless She Makerere University Ladies team.

The game played on a soggy Makerere main pitch saw the visitors secure a comfortable 2-0 win to advance to the next round.

Lanky forward Norah Alupo and Siporossa Amoding scored a goal each to help the Soroti based side defeat She MAK.

Alupo gave Olila the lead just two minutes after kick off tapping home a well delivered corner kick by Cissy Nantongo.

This gave the visitors momentum and kept surging forward plus dominating possession with the hosts struggling to put up a fight.

Olila could have doubled the lead from the spot when defender Stella Namisango handled the ball in the area and referee George Nkurunziza pointed to the spot  butAlupo failed to convert the resultant penalty.

Namisango was sent off in the process for foul language towards the referee.

With numerical advantage, Amoding stretched Olila’s lead with a personal effort beating She MAK defence for pace before slotting home.

To win last season’s title, Olila defeated Gafford Ladies in the final played at Madibira ground in Busia District.

Elsewhere, She Corporate edged past Isra Academy with a 2-1 result in the game played on Friday. Ajax Queens suffered elimination at the hands of Muteesa I Royal University. The game ended goalless at Wankulukuku but the University side won 4-3 on spot kicks.

The game between Taggy High School and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga was not played with the former failing to produce players licenses.

In Kabwohe, Western United fought hard to edge Lady Doves nicking a 2-1 victory.

Action will continue on Sunday with Kampala Queens hosting Kawempe Muslim while Gafford Ladies will be at home to UCU Lady Cardinals.
