The FUFA Women Elite League resumes after about three weeks of no action due to national team(Crested Cranes) engagements in the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.
At the time of resumption, the league is in its final bend and teams are fighting hard to make sure they seal their slots in the championship playoffs.
Key among the fixtures on Saturday will be a top of the table clash in Victoria group between Kawempe Muslim and Ajax Queens.
Kawempe who host the mouth watering clash at the Valley ground already confirmed their place in the playoffs for a record 4th time however they will need just a point against visiting Ajax Queens whom they defeated 2-0 in the first leg to seal the top position.
Ajax Queens are second on the log with 18 points five behind Kawempe but need at least a point in the game to brighten their chances and fend off immediate rivals Gafford Ladies who are third on 14 points but with a game in hand.
Gafford will be at home in Kanyanya to She Corporate and victory will bring them within breathing space with Ajax Queens as they seek to return to playoffs for the second time. Their maiden appearance came during the 2015/16 season.
The other fixture in Victoria group is a dead rubber encounter between bottom placed Western United who have just three points taking on Muteesa I Royal University slightly above their opponents with seven points.
Elizabeth group poses even more competition for the teams vying for the playoff slots with four teams still in contention.
Leaders Olila High School will look to maintain their summit status as they host Wakiso Hills in Soroti.
Olila are boosted with the return of goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi and defender Cissy Nantongo who had gone AWOL since the start of the second round.
In Mukono, fourth placed UCU Lady Cardinals take on third placed Uganda Martyrs High School in a winner takes it all affair.
UCU Lady Cardinals have 20 points, just one below Uganda Martyrs and victory will take them to second place ahead of Kampala Queens(22 points) who play on Sunday.
Isra Academy will visit relegation candidates She Makerere in the other game to be played on Saturday.
The top two teams in either group will qualify for the playoff stage to determine the champion.
Kawempe Muslim have won all the last three editions since inception in 2015.
