FUFA DRUM: Alitho Stars as Bugisu Defeat Sebei

Bugisu Province secured their maiden win in the FUFA DRUM tournament with a commanding 3-1 victory against hapless Sebei Province.

Goalkeeper James Alitho who plays with Vipers SC in the Uganda Premier League was instrumental for Bugisu leading the way in the victory.

The lanky shot stopper who was for the second time employed as a striker did not disappoint registering a brace.

On match day two, Alitho who was played as a striker scored as Bugisu drew one all against Teso.

Alitho was named man of the match getting a plaque and a cash prize of hundred thousand shillings.

He is now joint top scorer of the tournament with players like Dan Sserunkuma(Kampala), Musa Esenu and Ben Ocen(Teso) all on three goals.

Hassan Wandega scored the other goal for Bugisu while Jonah Ayiekho pulled one back for Sebei who are yet to get a point.

The win means Bugisu is third in group A with 4 points same as second placed Teso who lost 1-0 to leaders Busoga.

Bugisu will now host Sebei in Mbale next week as the second round starts. Only the top two teams in each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals.

The FUFA DRUM is a tournament aimed at celebrating people’s ancestry and cultures vis-à-vis unearthing raw talent.
