The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Appeals Committee has dismissed Maroons and Tooro United petitions against relegation to the FUFA Big League.
It should be recalled that Maroons and Tooro United had appealed against FUFA’s decision to end last season’s top flight league prematurely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The FUFA Appeals Committee chaired by Diana Nabuuso, on Thursday determined the fate for both Clubs’ petition.
“The appeal filed by Maroons FC and Tooro United FC against the FUFA Executive committee’s decision of 20th May 2020 is hereby dismissed. There is a right of Appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS),” the decision signed by Nabuuso read.
The committee noted that through Article 85 of the FUFA statutes, grants FUFA Executive committee the mandate to make final decisions on all cases of force majeure.
“The Executive committee shall have the power to decide on all cases of force majeure and on all matters not provided for in these statutes, such decisions to be made according to right and justice, taking into account the relevant regulations.”
Therefore, the FUFA’s decision stands hence Tooro United, Maroons and Proline Football Club will play next season in the FUFA Big League (second division).
