Nyamityobora Football Club got a huge boost in their bid to earn promotion to the top tier league (Uganda Premier League) with a slim victory over rivals Kira United.

In the Rwenzori group top of the table clash encounter played at Kira Municipal ground on Thursday, Nyamityobora put up a resilient performance to overcome Kira United.

Defender Musa Doca scored the lone goal of the game to help James Odoch’s charges secure an important win.

The win moved Nyamityobora FC to 42 points six clear of second placed Kira United.

Kitara FC recovered from their 1-0 loss against Water FC last week to outwit Simba FC 4-1 and return strong in the promotional struggle.

Billy Alinda struck a brace while Derrick Tekkwo and Rogers Ahumuza added a goal apiece to help Kitara FC win comfortably.

In Elgon group, Ndejje University moved top of the table after obliterating Vura FC 6-0 in Luweero.

The win meant the University Lions claimed summit status moving to 33 points one ahead of Paidha Black Angels.

The group leaders in either Elgon or Rwenzori group qualify automatically while the third and second placed teams go into a playoff to determine the third team.
