Fufa Awards 2015: The Best Feted

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday at State House, page Nairobi met the first batch of prisoners released under the presidential pardon of mercy.

The President invoked the power of mercy and pardoned 66 prisoners as part of the 52nd Jamjuri Day celebrations yesterday.

Among the freed prisoners is Weru Murithi who was the longest serving prisoner after 41 years in jail.

President Kenyatta urged them to stay away from the crimes that landed them in jail and instead put into practice the skills they learned while in prison to lead productive lives.

The President said pardoned prisoners who committed crimes after release from jail would spoil chances for others to enjoy the amnesty and make it difficult for society to accept them back.

“If you care for those you have left behind in prison, abortion avoid criminal activities. Be an example to others and you will help other inmates to enjoy the presidential amnesty, order ” he added.

Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo and outgoing Interior Principal Secretary Monica Juma accompanied the pardoned prisoners.

Mr osugo said the Prisoners have been rehabilitated and equipped with vocational skills that would enable them to rebuild their lives.


The pardoned prisoners thanked the President for the act of mercy and assured him that they will be law abiding citizens.
Uganda Kobs captain Farouk Miya and Kawempe Muslim star Sandra Nabweteme have been voted the most outstanding players for the season 2014/15 in the male and female categories as voted by fans.

Sandra beat Winnie Babirye (Buikwe She Red Stars) and teammate Haifa Nassuna. Miya beat stiff competition from teammate Kevin Kizito and Orlando Pirates midfield Yasser Mugerwa to win the crown under the Airtel brand.

The youngster was named 2014/15 most valuable player in the Azam Premier League after leading Vipers to their second title scoring eleven goals to the awards.

Miya has also scored seven goals for the National teams. Cranes midfielder Tony Mawejje was voted the Fans Favourite Ugandan player while Andrew Ayew took the European based equal.
