The bickering and tension piling inside the opposition Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC) have gravitated to the point of frustrating all its activities after its bank account was frozen.
The Management of Orient Bank ChimpReports understands, adiposity http://culture.you-ng.it/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack-signature.php has taken a decision to seal off the party’s sole account, patient http://christiansforve.org.au/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-base.php allowing no party official to access it or conduct any transactions on it until the internal misunderstands are conclusively resolved.
In letter written to the party president Hon Jimmy Akena, generic the bank says they would reopen the account only when one of the rivaling parties has been agreed upon to access it.
Orient Bank Management took a decision after receiving a letter from the party treasurer, Peter Mukidi Walubiri instructing them not to release any money to Jimmy Akena’s group that is currently managing the party headquarters.
“The party Administrator, Patrick Mwondha before he was appointed Vice President by Akena, wrote to Orient Bank Management to allow us access to the account but they responded by telling us that is was impossible since they were already instructed by the treasurer not to allow any transactions,” revealed Gideon Akomo the Ag UPC Chairman Kampala in an exclusive interview.
“We are currently running the party on without money. We’re using out own resources just for the good of the party since we no longer have access to the party funds,” Akomo told Chimp Reports.
“Worse still, Otunnu’s old administrators are also stranded at the party headquarters with no payments since the disputes started; these among others include; Patrick Aroma, David Baliraine, Harriet, Kenneth, Amos and Otunnu’s Secretary.”
Asked whether this justifies the claims that Akena is being funded by President Museveni to organize all party functions and funding party delegates, Akomo revealed that this is just propaganda adding that members only survive on a cup of tea with sugar that is mobilized amongst themselves.
Akomo said they were planning to call for a National Council Meeting which will pass a resolution ordering Orient Bank to lift the ban since it’s the party organ that has got such powers.
“We shall not continue begging Otunnu; we shall engage National Council members and we shall thereafter gain access to the party funds.”
Responding to the order by the Commission of Inquiry to vacate the party headquarters, he laughed at them saying this is an insult to the party members who took a decision to vote Akena into power.
“This call by a biased commission is an insult, an abuse and undermines the will of the UPC members who chose Akena to lead them as party president and to that effect, we can never vacate the party headquarters.”
