French Embassy in Uganda Unveils Programme For France-Uganda Friendship Week 3rd Edition

The Embassy of France in Uganda, together with the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), Uganda Rugby Union (URU),Talent Africa and a number of other partners and sponsors, have on Monday this week unveiled the programme for the 3rd edition of France-Uganda friendship week.

Started 3 years back under H.E Stephanie Rivoal, the French ambassador to Uganda, The 7-day programme is organized fun-filled series of events to celebrate the longstanding friendship between France and Uganda, through music, dance, sports, cultural activities, tourism expos, food and fashion among others.

Addressing Journalists at the French Embassy in Nakasero, Kampala, Stephanie Rivoal the French Ambassador to Uganda, disclosed that “this year’s Friendship week between France and Uganda, will be a little bit different from the past editions, since it will be her last event, serving as A French ambassador in Uganda.”

Ms. Rivoal thanked the journalists for endeavoring to always be by her side whenever she calls for them. The Ambassador could not end her speech without thanking the event’s sponsors, Total being the biggest partner, Africel,Mestil Hotel ,Airbus, Hima Cement, Mehta group,Camusat,Bollore,Brussels airlines,Engie, Barclays and Kabira Country Club among others.

The friendship week will kick-off with the Francophonie Day – celebrating French culture and language – on Saturday 16th March at the French School, and will climax on Saturday 23rd March, with a rugby match between the Uganda national Rugby XV team and a French military rugby team, followed thereafter by a music concert featuring Uganda’s prominent artistes at the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

Other activities include; Tourism day on the 18th of March at Ndere Cultural center, Fashion day on the 19th of March, Defense & Security day in March 20 at the French Residence, Gastronomy day and Sports day among others.

On the Final day; Music &Sports festival day, there will be performances from Uganda’s crème de crème artists chosen by Talent Africa’s Ali Alibhai to entertain partiers including Eddy Kenzo,Cindy,Beenie Gunter,Fefe Bussi, Fik Fameica, Vinka, Lydia Jasmine and many more.
