Uganda Hockey Association (UHA) has announced the appointment of Italian Francesco Richichi as the National Hockey Teams Head Coach.
The appointment of Richichi and his entire backroom staff was confirmed by Uganda Hockey Association’s Assistant General Secretary Tamale Stanley on Friday.
Richichi has been in the coaching circles since 1984 and handled several top flight teams in the Italian League. He was also the men’s Head Coach from last year’s Africa Olympic Qualifiers.
Richichi, who speaks mainly Italian and English, will be arriving in the country later on next week for his official unveiling.
He will be deputized by Vicent Arnold Kasasa and Sandra Namusoke as the Men and Women’s assistant coaches respectively with Sadiq Muhammad Akii assuming the physiotherapist role.
Antonio Spignolo has been appointed as the National teams goalkeeping Coach and will be deputized by Byron Matovu.
The Association has also confirmed Kenneth Tamale and Fatumah Namubiru as the Men and Women National teams managers while Dr. Emmanuel Ewochu is the team doctor.
The appointments are in line with the National teams preparations for the forthcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers slated for January in Nairobi – Kenya.
The newly appointed technical staff shall embark on player selection to enable early training while in observance of the Standard Operating Procedures of combating the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
