Former Vipers SC Coach Da Costa Nominated in FUFA Awards


Former Vipers SC Manager Miguel Da Costa has been nominated in the coach of the year in the 2018 FUFA Awards.

Da Costa who guided Vipers to the league title last season is one of the five nominees of the list that was released by FUFA on Wednesday.

The Portuguese tactician was sacked by the Venoms under unclear circumstances and he is currently coaching at Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana.

He will contend for the accolade against KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi who won the Uganda Cup and helped KCCA FC reach the group stages of CAF Champions League, Alex Isabirye of Kyetume but helped Buganda province to win the inaugural FUFA DRUM tournament.

The other nominees include Ayub Khalifa of Kawempe Muslim and Raymond Timothy Komakech of Ndejje University.

In the other categories revealed on Wednesday include FUFA Upcoming player that caters for players featuring in the Uganda Premier League.

The nominees include Musitafa Kiiza of KCCA FC, Geoffrey Wasswa of Vipers SC and Fred Amaku of Kirinya Jinja SS.

The award will go to an individual who exhibited high levels of sportsmanship spirit that promoted fair play.
