President Yoweri Museveni has met and held discussions with visiting former Nigerian leader, General Dr. Yakubu Gowon who called on him today at State House, Nakasero.
The 80 year old General served as Nigerian President from 1966 to 1975, and famed for his role in curtailing the Biafra Secession during the 1967-70 Nigerian civil war.
General Gowon commended President Museveni for his able leadership in providing security and peace in Uganda adding that he was thankful for the opportunity to meet him.
“I want to thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to come and see you,” said former Nigeria Head of State
President Museveni and his guest discussed wide-ranging issues centering on political, economic, social and security matters in their respective countries, Nigeria and Uganda
The meeting was attended by the Attorney General, Mr. Peter Nyombi and the Governor of the Bank of Uganda Mr. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile.
