Former Express Forward Joins FUFA Big League Entity

23-year old towering striker Alfred Leku has moved to FUFA Big League side Arua Hill Sports Club.

He joins the second division club on a two-year deal from Proline Football Club where he spent the previous 2019/2020 campaign.

Leku is remembered for his historic last minute goal scored against Masavu FC that saved Express FC from being relegated to the second division on the final day of the 2017/2018 Uganda Premier League season.

He came through the ranks at Vipers SC, graduating from the Club’s academy, St. Mary’s Kitende before making his senior debut in 2015. The striker went on to win the Uganda Cup with the Venoms the following year.

“It is a step for me because as far as I am concerned, there is no bigger difference between the Premier League and the Big League,” Leku said.

“I believe I haven’t played enough football, so here I’ll get enough time to be on the pitch and that will help me to improve, to lift up my game to the level of my expectations and also help the team get promoted to the Premier League,” he added.

Besides Vipers SC and Express FC, he also featured for Onduparaka, Proline FC and Jwaneng Galaxy FC in Botswana.

Born in Maracha, he becomes head coach, Hussein Mbalangu’s eighth addition of the transfer window, joining Dan Birikwalira, Rashid Agau, Mike Kawooya, Collinie Onega, Paddy Muhumuza, Idd Abdulwahid and Brian Ade.
