Bunyoro Kingdom has released the burial program of Prof Yolamu Barongo, the kingdom’s former Prime Minister who served from 1994 to 1999.
According to the program released by Owek Andrew Byakutaga, the current Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa), there will be a funeral service today at St. Stephen’s church of Uganda, Kisugu, Muyenga starting at 9.00am.
Thereafter, his body will be transported to Hoima district where the Kingdom will hold a special session of its Parliament to honour him at 3pm.
A requiem service will later be held at St Peter’s cathedral in Hoima town at 4.30pm and a vigil will be held at the home of the deceased in Kijungu cell in Hoima City.
The burial ceremony will be held on Sunday 8th November 2020 at his ancestral home in Nyakafunjo village in Kitoba subcounty in Hoima district starting at 11am.”
Barongo passed away on Friday 6th November after struggling with High blood pressure for quite long period of time.
He among others led Bunyoro’s negotiations with government to return Kingdom properties that were confiscated by central government in 1967.
