Fracas broke out this afternoon between the so-called Good DP and the Bad DP at the burial of former Democratic Party President John Sebaana Kizito in Luweero.
The Bad DP wing led by Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze accuses the Good DP – the mainstream party leadership of being in bed with the ruling party and President Yoweri Museveni.
Museveni coined the two names.
Police was forced to put a ring around the tent where some of the members of the bad DP including Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago were seated.
This was after a fistfight broke out amongst Bad DP, — majorly Uganda Young Democrats (UYD)—and those of the mainstream party.
The scuffle ensued soon after Lord Mayor Lukwago and newly elected Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine arrived for the burial.
At the time, Mukono South MP Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga was addressing the mourners on behalf of the ruling NRM caucus MPs who were attending the funeral.
Mr Ssenyonga was praising Ssebana as the most honest politician Uganda has ever had when the DP youths who carried placards confronted Mr Lukwago and attempted to block him at the entrance to the venue of the main burial ceremony.
A similar brawl reportedly happened at Sebaana’s home in Kampala on Thursday night, and Lukwago was assaulted by a group of mourners, but the chairperson of the funeral program Hon Medard Lubega Seggona dismissed these reports as false.
