Radio presenters who were Tuesday afternoon hosting a radio show at Kyenjojo FM were struck by a disturbing scene when they saw smoke emerging from the studio.
Aston Kajara, former state minister of Finance for Privatization and Mwenge South Member of Parliament owns the radio station, in which fire broke out at around noon.
According to Isaac Kagezi, the assistant manager Kyenjojo FM, the shocking fire arose from a short circuit.
The radio station is located in Kyenjojo town council.
The fire which gutted both the main and production studio, destroyed equipment including consoles, microphones, stabilizers, television sets, computers and furniture.
The radio is now off air.
Traders neighboring the radio premises managed to save their goods, and police in the area couldn’t help as they lacked equipment to put off the air.
