The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Uganda Local Governments’ Association (ULGA) Mr. Frederick Gume.

He told the meeting that the Government was making progress in the construction of the Karuma –Gulu and the Kafu – Karuma sections of that road.

He revealed that the only pending issue in the roads’ construction programme was procurement for the remaining roads.

He informed the meeting that plans were underway for Government to procure about 1,000 pieces of road construction equipment to work on the murrum roads, adding that each district would get a fleet of road construction machinery.

He said that a bulldozer would be provided to each of the 18 zones in the country.

He said that one only becomes his enemy if he obstructs the road construction process.

“The Nebbi – Pakwach road was badly tarmacked because of corrupt officials. A commission of enquiry has been appointed to address the situation of bad road works. The Government will repair it,” he said.

President Museveni observed that all parts of the country are peaceful – the only exceptions being Kampala, Namayingo and Bugiri districts which have had a spate of killings.

He attributed that challenge to the laxity of the Police but added that the Government has moved to address the situation.

He disclosed that Kampala City is to be provided with cameras which are programmed to ease the process of crime investigation.

The President commended Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Officers for a job well done under the Operation Wealth Creation programme.

He observed that, “if every homestead had embraced such production ventures like coffee, bananas, fruits and zero grazing cows in at least one acre per product, the country would have gone a long way towards eradication of household poverty.”

He criticized people who fragment land and divide up property upon the death of their parents saying that this was not correct.

Museveni encouraged families to put their land holdings and other assets into companies in order to improve on the management of their ventures.

He stressed that the assets on the land should be treated as one unit so that family members only share the profits accruing from the production activities carried out on their pieces of land.

Mr. Museveni urged leaders to enlighten wananchi on the correct measures to take in order to improve their welfare.

He said that if people woke up and listened to the advice of NRM Government, they would prosper.

Museveni revealed that the Government would help people without land to gain skills that would enable them get out of poverty. The President appealed to wananchi to strive and establish industries so as to add value to the various products they produce.

He cited maize, simsim and sunflower, among others, as some of the products that would fetch higher prices in the regional markets particularly after value addition. He said that the establishment and operation of small industries would go a long way in ensuring progress.

He revealed that “NRM has empowered Ugandans in various disciplines through the promotion of the East African Community, adding, “The Middle East offers lucrative market opportunities for our products.”

He stressed that all commercial activities depend on political stability.

The Chairman of the Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA), Mr. Fred Gume, on behalf of the delegation observed in a memorandum that NRM, under the leadership of President Museveni, has worked on the roads and achieved a lot of development.

He stressed that, given the glaring achievements that NRM has registered the country needs no political disturbance at all. He emphasized that NRM was the key political vehicle to ensure political stability in Uganda.

He added that they condemn all acts of indiscipline, disassociate themselves from any acts of premature electioneering. He revealed that they have resolved to have President Museveni as the sole NRM Presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.

“The programme is a Fifa advanced course and will begin on Monday (July 6th). All clubs are required to send only one coach who has undergone any Caf coaching course previously,” the Fufa spokesman, Ahmed Hussein clarified to ChimpSport.”

“The main objective of the course is to equip coaches with necessary skills to improve the standards of football in the topflight league and the country at large.”
