Uganda’s Women team has been eliminated from the ongoing FIBA 3*3 World Cup tournament in Manila, Philippines.
The sad news follows the team’s second loss in the tourney on Monday morning – Uganda lost 22-9 to eventual Pool C winners USA
The defeat reduced Uganda to 1-3, below USA and Russia who are 4-0 and 3-1 in that order.
In the next game, Uganda made amends with a victory over Andorra but the result just sealed third place for the side.
Earlier on Saturday, Uganda lost to Russia (22-8) before victory against Iran (18-10).
Against USA, Jamila Nansikombi scored four points, Ritah Imanishimwe and Claire Lamunu added three and two in that order, as Sarah Ageno registered a blank.
USA’s Emin Boley and Ruth Hebard scored seven points each.
China, France, Spain and Hungary join Russia and USA as the teams that have confirmed their places in the quarter finals.
Against Andorra, Nansikombi led the charges with 7 points, Lamunu scored 6 as Ageno and Imanishimwe added 4 and 1 respectively.
Uganda will now wait for placement games.
