FDC’s Amuriat Rules Out Dialoguing with EC

Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Presidential flag bearer, Patrick Oboi Amuriat has ruled out meeting the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the conduct of the 2021 General Elections.

It is understood that following last week’s meeting between Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine and the electoral body, voices within the FDC have called for similar talks.

However, while addressing the press on Tuesday; Amuriat categorically stated that much as his camp has constantly been on the receiving end of security’s wrath, engaging in such a meeting would be time wasting.

“It is useless to engage the EC. Instead we are going to ask our people to get more solid. We have been in this campaign nearly one month now; the EC has been seeing what has been happening,” he intimated.

“On Monday in Busia, part of my security detail was rammed into with a lot of injuries. One of our people has sustained a broken limb…This is all recorded in camera and so if the recordings are inconsequential, what then will be consequential to occasion the EC to take action?” Amuriat posed.

Furthermore, he faulted EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama for watching on as things go berserk.

“In fact Justice Byabakama should be cautious of what he is doing. He has failed to control this process; it has spiraled out of his control. It has now been taken over by the police force. And I think the most honorable thing for him to do is to throw in the towel and give up,” he alleged.
