Opposition Forum for Democratic Change have summoned one of their former party presidential candidates Moses Byamukama, to explain his weeklong meetings with youth party members at various universities in the country, which were not authorized by the party.
Byamugisha, at the start of this month launched what he called the FDC Youth Students Mobilization program, in which he met with students at the universities of Bugema, MUBS, Bishop Stuart, KIU and Valley University.
The meetings he said were meant to support FDC guild candidates and recruit more student members into the party.
These meetings apparently, were not connected to or authorized by the FDC, even though Byamugisha claimed they were running under the party youth league.
FDC Secretary General Nandala Mafabi yesterday halted these meetings and summoned Mr Byamugisha to appear before the party Working Committee on Monday next week at the party offices in Najjanankumbi, and give an account of the activities.
Mafabi in the letter said the FDC Youth league was “completely out of touch” with Mr Byamugisha’s activities.
“As a party member, you are aware that all activities in the party are organized and sanctioned by the relevant party organs,” wrote the SG
The FDC working committee after meeting with Byamugisha is expected to make a report to the NEC, which will decide on the matter.
