The Opposition Forum Democratic Change (FDC) has nominated 29 year old Alex Byaruhanga to carry its flag in the impending Ibanda Municipality Parliamentary seat race.
Byaruhanga was nominated by the FDC General Secretary in Ibanda district, Charles Tweheyo, who said the candidate was approved by party members at the district offices last week.
Mr. Tweheyo told Chimpreports that the opposition party is hoping to overturn the dominance of the ruling NRM party in the western district.
In 2016, Byaruhanga contested on the FDC flag for the Ibanda South race and lost to Minister John Byabagambi.
Before the Election Day, Byaruhanga went missing, sparking rumors that he had been kidnapped.
He had earlier claimed receiving several messages on his phone asking him to pull out of the race.
Ever since he has been keeping a low profile concentrating on his private businesses.
