After failing to front a candidate in the Madi-Okollo Woman Member of Parliament (MP) race, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has decided to support Gloria Aciro of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANTs).
This was announced by FDCs Presidential Candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat was campaigning in Rigbo and Rhino Camp Sub Counties on Tuesday.
Amuriat said the decision was meant to show solidarity and further the Opposition’s interests in parliament.
“She is a member of the Alliance for National Transformation. And in line with the cooperation that we have accepted to engage in we are going to be supporting Gloria Aciro to become the Member of Parliament for Madi-Okollo,” he elaborated.
Amuriat added that their decision is largely based on Aciro’s competencies having worked with FDC before the November 2017 Party Presidential Elections that culminated in the formation of ANT.
“She used to be in the FDC, we had some minor difficulties that caused ANT. For some reason she is not holding the Key. She is using another symbol but these are people who worked with us before,” he stated further.
Commenting on this matter, ANTs Deputy Spokesperson Sulaiman Kakaire applauded the FDC
“It is just logical considering the situation we are dealing with. But I have not sat in a single meeting where that has been agreed to; an understanding between the ANT and the FDC although it would not come as a surprise based on our methods of operation,” Kakaire clarified.
