FBL: Wakiso Move on After Losing Unbeaten Run

Wakiso Giants 15-match unbeaten grinded to a halt on Thursday as they lost 2-0 to UPDF FC in Bombo.

The Purple Sharks had remained the only side that had not conceded defeat but succumbed to a shock loss at the hands of the soldiers who are now laying claim on a promotional playoff spot.

Amis Muwonge and Sydney Ssenyonga capitalised from a lapse of defence to bag the two second half goals for the Soldiers in the 71st and 90th minute.

Wakiso assistant coach Andy Lule rued some defensive mistakes in the final third of the game.

“We lost the game in the last 20 minutes,” Lule mourned, “My defender made a back pass which went directly to the opponent. I don’t know
what happened there but I hope we’ll improve on that [in the coming games].”

The loss left the team just three points ahead of second-placed Doves All Stars with four games remaining.

The Stars beat Amuka Bright Stars 2-1 in Arua.

Lule still fancies the team’s chances of qualifying directly despite the hiccup.

“It is very disappointing that we have lost the three points but I don’t think it will [affect] us much in [our quest] to qualify,” he added.
