Wakiso Giants will play only their second game at home this season as they take on UPDF FC on Thursday at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in Jinja.
Of the five games played so far, the Purple Sharks have been on the road four times with the only home game coming against Kataka FC on match day three a game they won 3-0.
Ahead of the encounter against army side, UPDF FC, Wakiso Giants will hope that home advantage comes to the forefront.
Coming from a one all draw against Kyetume FC over the weekend, the target for Ibrahim Kirya will be to garner maximum points and keep within breathing space of surprise table leaders Light SS who are away to struggling Bukedea TC.
Kirya was disappointed that his team failed to win against Kyetume and he’s optimistic that they can win against UPDF FC.
” I am happy that we got a point away from home but disappointed because we had all chanced to win the game. If we were clinical, we would have won 5-1 or at worst 5-2 but that’s football. We move on and the focus is now on our next game, ” he said after the stalemate on Sunday.
On the other hand, UPDF FC under the stewardship of Steven Bogere have kept the core of the team they had in the Uganda Premier League last season.
Some of these include; Suleima Majjanjalo, Dennis Ssekitoleko, Yasin Mubiru, Amos Muwonge and Sydney Ssenyonga among others.
UPDF FC is 5th in Elgon group on eight points just one behind Wakiso Giants.
The other games in Elgon group to be played on Thursday will see Amuka Bright Stars third on table take on Dove All Stars while JMC Hippos will take on Entebbe FC in a relegation battle.
In Rwenzori group, high flying Proline FC host Water FC in Lugogo seeking victory to return to the summit of the table.
Log leaders Kiboga Young under coach Felix Ssekabuuza Kawooya make a trip to Wankulukuku to face Ntinda United, Kitara FC with new a new coach(Edward Golola) take on Kansai Plascon in Hoima.
Elsewhere, Dove FC will be at home against Kira United in a game where coach Mark Twinamasiko currently at Dove FC will be facing his former employers.
Kireka United FC take on Bumate FC fresh from getting their first win this season against Kira United last week.
