Wakiso Giants FC 1-0 UPDF FC
Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe
Wakiso Giants returned to the summit of the table in Rwenzori group after registering a hard fought 1-0 against UPDF FC on Thursday.
The win coupled with Light SS defeat to Bukedea Town Council meant the Purple Sharks returned to the top of the table now on 12 points, one above Light SS but with a game in hand.
Diminutive forward Ernest Daff Luboobi scored the lone goal of the game played at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in Jinja.
This was Wakiso’s third win of the season in six games and the team is still unbeaten.

Three minutes later, Luboobi scored with his ferocious strike deflecting off Suleiman Majjanjalo before going to the back of the net.
The Purple Sharks kept surging forward and lanky striker Clinton Kamugisha almost doubled the lead in the 34th minute but goalkeeper Joseph Yoga was well stationed to save.
Two minutes to the mandatory break, Ali Magomu too got an opportunity to score for Wakiso Giants but his feeble shot was easily collected.
In the second stanza, the Army side came back stronger and made several inroads in search for a leveller but Wakiso’s defence manned by Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Fahad Kawooya remained resilient.
Former Sadolin Paints striker Herbert Katongole had an attempt at goal in the 55th minute. However, Mansoor Mutumba in goal for Wakiso Giants parried the ball away for a corner kick.
Ibrahim Kirya called for a double substitution introducing Richard ‘Gaza’ Kigozi and Swaib Mudde for Kasibante and Ivan ‘Kaloolo’ Kiweewa in attempt to defend.
On the other hand, UPDF FC too called for changes bringing on Titus Lubega and Alex Witaba for Moses Kamya and Katongole respectively.
