Wakiso Giants secured their first away win this season with a hard fought win away against Bukedea Town Council FC on Thursday.

The Purple Sharks won the game played at Emokori Grounds on Thursday 1-0 courtesy of Ernest Luboobi first half strike to ascend to the summit of the table in Elgon group.

Bukedea came into the game without head coach Bashir Kalungi who parted ways with the club on Tuesday this week.

The visitors made only one change from the team that started against Kataka FC last week with Ivan Kiweewa starting ahead of Muwadda Kateregga.

Luboobi fired home in the 24th minute after a quick exchange with Clinton Kamugisha before sending a ferocious strike past goalkeeper Emmanuel Opio.

Bukedea made efforts to at least salvage a draw making several inroads but failed to go past a resilient defence line manned by Fahad Kawooya and Hassan Wasswa Dazo.

Michael Sirale and Isaac Tegu proved a thorn in the flesh for Wakiso Giants with duo making a fine link up front but only fell short in being efficient.

James Kasibante who was employed as left back for the second game had to be substituted after sustaining a head injury with blood oozing out of his head. His place was taken up by Muwadda.

Ibrahim Kirya’s charges eventually held off pressure to garner maximum points and ascend to the summit of the table in Elgon group on eight points in four games.

In the other games played on the day, Dove All Stars and Nebbi Central played to a barren draw in the West Nile Derby played at Green Light stadium in Arua.

Kyetume FC needed a late equaliser from Emmanuel Obitre to pick a point away against Kataka FC in the game that ended two all. UPDF FC defeated JMC Hippos 2-1 at Kakindu stadium while ten men Kireka United squandered a two goal lead against Dove FC in a game that ended 2-2.

In Rwenzori group, Kabale Sharp picked a hard fought 1-0 win away against Bumate FC in Bundibugyo. This was the second loss for Bumate at home this season.

Ntinda United secured their first win this season with a 1-0 win against Kira United in the game played at Mandela National stadium.

Vincent Lukwago scored the lone goal of the game.

Elsewhere, Kiboga Young and Kansai Plascon played out a one all draw while Kitara FC picked their first win defeating Water FC 2-0 at Wankulukuku.
