Family members of former minister Adoko Nekyon who was buried on Saturday, have said the fallen leader met his death from Sheraton hotel.
Through their lawyers of Makmot Kibwanga & Co. Advocates, the family members who did not identify themselves, have written to CID Director Grace Akullo, stating that Mzee Nekyon did not die from Nsambya hospital as communicated and reported by media houses.
“The late Haji Akbar Adoko Nekyon died under mysterious circumstances from a hotel room in the Sheraton Hotel- Kampala and it was falsely stated that he died from Nsambya hospital,” part of the letter said.
The letter added that late Nekyon’s police bodyguards that were with him full-time have been arrested and detained in discreet locations.
“At the time of his death, he was guarded at all times by at least two police officers and one officer called Ogwang Jimmy is reportedly under arrest and detained in a secret place,” added the letter.
Unnamed family members are said to be behind the “murder.”
“Our clients are suspecting close family members, some of them prominent politicians, who had financial and property issues with the late Nekyon and who have since his death been persistently trying to get access to his house.”
They asked the CID Director to start investigations in to the matter.
“In the premise, we seek to interest you to open an investigation on the late Hon. Nekyon’s death.”
