Police Kabale have in detention a 42 year old man for claiming falsely to be a lawyer.
Elly Maate The police spokesman for Kigezi identified the accused as Fred Byaruhanga, who was arrested at the Kabale High Court on Thursday.
The suspect is said to have claimed before the court’s Justice Moses Kazibwe, that he was an advocate from Ngaruye Ruhindi and Spencer Company Advocates in Mbarara.
He claimed he was at the court to represent the plaintiff in a case of Leading Waragi Ltd Vs Cox Nyakairu and Kabale District Local Government, civil suit number 88/2010 which was up for hearing.
Maate says when Byaruhanga started giving brief; he all of a sudden started trembling, which triggered suspicion amongst those in the chambers.
“The judge then asked him about his profession, and he insisted he was an advocate, but later confessed that he wasn’t,” Maate says.
Police was immediately called in and he was arrested and taken to Kabale police station where an impersonation case was opened under file number CRB 769/2018
