Uganda Premier League side Express Football Club is leading the race to capture towering defender Benon Tahomera, ChimpReports can confirm.
This followed Tahomera’s unwillingness to extend his stay with Mukono based side Kyetume FC as his current contract is set to expire in August 2020.
The 23-year old joined ‘the Slaughters’ from Malabba Youth Development Association (MYDA) in 2017 and inspired the team to top flight promotion a year later.
Since 2017, Tahomera has played 44 matches for Kyetume scoring 5 goals, making ten assist 10 with only 8 cautions.
Last year, he won a Silver medal with Bukedi Province in the FUFA Drum tournament having lost to Acholi Province 5-4 in post-match penalties after normal time (0-0) at the New Akii Bua stadium, Lira.
The Red Eagles are leading the race to bring the player to Wankulukuku in the club’s new journey to revamp the “Mukwano Gw’abangi” and win a Seventh league title.
Previously, the Kakyeka based outfit Mbarara City was also reportedly interested in Tahomera’s signature.
Other reports suggest that KCCA FC are also in the pursuit of the player, looking to fill the void left by long-time absentee John Revita who recently underwent an ACL surgery.
