Last season, Express FC conceded 15 goals in 15 league games at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.
On average, the club conceded a goal per home game.
On his competitive home debut, Goalkeeper Godwin Buule stood up tall as he made sure that Express Fc picked a point, but above all, it was a clean sheet.
Buule made many reflex saves, organized his defense, picked out crosses and on many occasions he came off his line to play the ‘sweeper role’ as Express FC played to a goalless draw with Kirinya Jinja SS.
Subsequently, as the club’s norm, the experienced goalkeeper was awarded with the Man of the match accolade (DSTV Decoder) by Club Chairperson, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.
Buule was awarded with Shs10,000 from an Express FC fan (name withheld) on the day following his performance.
Speaking in reception of the accolade, Buule said that the players will give the fans better performances in the subsequent matches.
“It’s been a short period since we grouped as players but we have at least performed fairly,” he said.
“It’s only the start and I can assure you that we are going to improve with time.”
Buule was opted to start in goal ahead of Godfrey Atel, Emmanuel Opio and Tony Kyamera and the league winner with SC Vipers lived to the expectations.
“Express FC is a big team and our aim this season is to be in the top places or so winning the trophy,” added Buule.
The Shotstopper also called upon the fans to continue coming in big numbers on match days.
Buule joined Express FC on a year deal as a free agent after his short 6-month deal with Proline came to an end.
He had joined Mujib Kasule’s team in January this year.
He has been at Vipers, Soana FC and Masavu FC.
Currently, Express FC is 6th on the 16 team log with a point after Match day 1. Police FC, URA FC and SC Villa are top of the log in that order.
