Express Football Club Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa heaped praise on his side after showing resilience in overcoming Sports Club Villa 1-0 in the Kampala Derby on Saturday.
Forward George Ssenkaaba received a swift pass from Frank Kalanda before he calmly slotted home from the left wing past shot stopper Saidi Keni, lifting the Red Eagles over arch rivals at Mutesa II Stadium – Wankulukuku.
The gaffer could not hide his excitement in the post match interview and believes the home win is a step forward in helping the club achieve it’s main goal of getting back on top.
“We have managed to get all the three points in the derby and we are very happy. It’s good for our club since we are aiming at achieving our main target of getting back on top and I promise our fans the best from our next games,” Bbosa said.
He added, “We didn’t create a lot but the team was resilient in the entire game and we managed to control the game and bag maximum points.”
Lanky forward Eric Kambale saw his header rattle the cross bar while substitute Ivan Mayanja’s long ball found goalkeeper Keni off the line, going a few inches from the post.
The win took Express FC to 8 points after match-day four in the 5th position as SC Villa remained on 7 points in 7th. The league will resume in February 2021 after CHAN tournament.
