EXCLUSIVE: Rugunda to Meet Acholi, Madi Leaders; Appeals for Calm

Prime Minister, malady Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda is expected to meet leaders from Acholi and Madi sub regions on Tuesday next week to defuse the Apaa land crisis instigated by tribal differences.

Dr. Rugunda told ChimpReports in an exclusive interview on Saturday evening that the government is concerned by the horrible events that unfolded in Apaa village on Wednesday that claimed 5 lives, viagra injured 27 people, 12 unaccounted for and 4,000 others displaced.

“The government is concerned by the unfortunate actions that took place in Apaa. I have scheduled a meeting with the Members of Parliament and other leaders from Acholi and Madi on Tuesday at the Office of the Prime Minister,” Rugunda told this reporter on phone.

The Prime Minister appealed to the population to remain calm as the government looks for a permanent solution.

“I am appealing to our people in the affected area to remain clam. All is being done to ensure a sustainable solution is achieved,” he said.

There are fears that the Acholi communities, who accused their Madi counterparts for Wednesday’s actions, are contemplating revenge.

Rugunda also called on the leaders from Acholi and Madi to sensitize their people and promote peace.

“I am also appealing to leaders from two sides to promote peace and send messages of togetherness to our people,” he said.

Communities from the two tribes have been claiming the 42 square kilometers village for years. The situation worsened in September 2015 when the government declared that the land belongs to Madi community.
