NRM Western Region Youth MP aspirant, click http://crewftlbr.org/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/tribe/default_values.php Ronald Agaba Bills, ampoule has decided not to contest on the political organisation’ ticket amid concerns that his rivals are being heavily facilitated by top party officials.

Agaba has been campaigning as an NRM member until this week when report filtered in, showing his challengers had been handed over Shs 100m and a car for campaigns.

In a statement seen by ChimpReports on Thursday, Agaba expressed frustration over the huge cost of participating in the NRM primaries.

“Despite my preparations to stand under our party, having considered the huge costs required to stand at the primary stage within the NRM, and I having consulted widely many of you supporters, I have come to a realization that the best course to take is to challenge for the slot directly through the national Elections,” said Agaba.

He argued that, “as Youths, the MP slot is supposed to offer us an opportunity to enter into elective positions with less financial stress because after all many of us are still unemployed and have not yet built adequate capacity to compete financially as this looks to be the case in the primaries.”

The vibrant intellectual and author warned the youth that their challenges “have no political colour,” adding, “my deep conviction is that we need a multi-pronged approach to solving these challenges, something I believe this Leadership fellowship that am undertaking will address.”

He added: “Let me emphasise the obvious, 2016 is about the youth, but we risk throwing it away by allowing money or technicalities of political parties to curtail our aspiration.”

NRM’s nomination process ends Friday with President Museveni picking forms.

Agaba said, “Our dreams are valid and unfettered if we choose leadership based on merit rather than dealership based on how much:- money.”

The latest development signals the rough terrain that awaits NRM candidates in the primaries.

Fights and counter-accusations of rigging have previously given birth to a large number of Independents.

But NRM Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, said the party is taking a harsh stance against independents who usually divide the political organisation’s vote thus giving an upper hand to the opposition.

Agaba also noted that he has been selected for a Youth Leadership course that will take place within the period that the primary elections will be conducted and “therefore I have taken the decision to benefit from that leadership training whose results will be of advantage to the youth cause in our country as well.”

Describing as “irrational” the Kyankwanzi resolution mandating Museveni to stand unopposed within NRM as the party’s flag-bearer in the 2016, Mbabazi went further to accuse the system of deviating from its core democratic principles as police continue to harass and intimidate his supporters.

It remains unclear if Mbabazi will woo big shots to his side.
