EX URA Chief Kaguhangire Named New Uganda Investment Authority Boss

Ms Jolly Kaguhangire is being unveiled this week as the new Executive Director, information pills Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), buy Chimp Corps exclusively report.
Kaguhangire served as an Assistant Commissioner Service Manager at Uganda Revenue Authority.
She takes over from Dr Frank Ssebowa who bowed out late 2016.
This website understands the UIA board led by Emely Kugonza appointed Kaguhangire to the top office of the investment authority three weeks ago.
However, the appointment takes effect today Monday.
UIA was set up under the Investment Code 1991 is a statutory agency to initiate and support measures that enhance investment in Uganda and advise Government on appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and growth.
But the changing investment environment and Government priorities have necessitated the modification of UIA’s mandate.
It has been accused of not doing enough to attract and help investors to set up business in Uganda.
The semi-autonomous government agency is expected to drive national economic growth and development in partnership with the private sector.
As an Investment Promotion Agency, UIA mainly markets investment opportunities; promotes packaged investment projects; ensures local and foreign investors have access to information, especially about the business environment so as to make more informed business decisions; and offers business support, advisory and advocacy services.
In her new role, Kaguhangire is expected to promote, attract and retain value adding domestic and foreign direct investments through targeted marketing and aftercare services.
