Makindye chief magistrates court has released the former minister for Gender and Culture Hon Sam Bitangaro on a non cash bail of 200 million shillings.
Bitangaro was last week arrested and remanded to Luzira for illegally obtaining Shs 3Billion from a SACCO in Kiboga district in a fraudulent land sale deal.
He together with three of his colleagues were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit
Bitangaro, together with his lawyer Francis Owor Onyango, William Tumwine, an official from the Ministry of Gender and his wife Stella Kakuba were charged with seven counts emanating from a land deal between them and Kiboga Twegatte Cooperative Society Limited.
In court today, the accused applied for bail and presented sureties, which court found substantial.
Its alleged that the group obtained 3 billion Shillings from the 2500 members of the SAACO after their eviction from Luwunga central government reserve in Kiboga district in 2013.
