Events Promoter Balaam Threatens To Sue Bajjo Over ‘People Power’

Events organizer Balaam Barugahara has threatened to sue fellow events manager Andrew Bajjo, accusing him of spreading false accusations against him.

Balaam through his lawyers of Muwema and Company advocates, demanded in a notice to sue letter dated 29th January 2019, that Bajjo retracts a Facebook post in which he claimed that Balaam had registered “People Power” as a nonprofit Organization.

People Power is also the name of a pressure group led by the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi better known by his stage name Bobi Wine.

According to Balaam,Bajjo will have to pay him 1 billion shillings as damages and 50 Million court fees.

The allegation about the registration of People Power quickly gained traction on social media, since Hon. Kyagulanyi had earlier last year warned of plans by some government elements to take over the pressure group.

The lawyers in this letter, however, stressed that Balaam has never registered People Power and has no intention to.

“We are instructed to demand that you retract the said post from your Facebook immediately,” the lawyers wrote.

Bajjo was also asked to make an unconditional apology to Balaam on the same Facebook page where he posted the accusations.

Upon getting the information about Balaam’s intension,Bajjo posted on his Facebook account that Balaam and his lawyers are trying to put him down for having disclosed the truth.

“Bajjo events source of firsthand information anything bad might happen to me according to inside intel Balaam Barugahara and team of big lawyers is organized to put me down for giving you accurate information since I was the first person to let you know about their bad move to down play our struggle. Keep your fingers crossed for me. The struggle continues… We shall fight till the last battle even our souls they will fight,” Bajjo posted.

Balaam claims the allegations have created a hate campaign on social media against him.
