Patriarch Jerold Gilege, who is the World head of the Evangelical Orthodox Church EOC (Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch), is in Uganda as part of his Pastoral visit on the African continent.
Patriarch Jerold arrived last night at Entebbe International Airport where he was welcomed by Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka the bishop for Central and Eastern Provinces of Uganda.
While in Uganda the Patriarch is expected to meet President Yoweri Museveni and other members of the clergy.
Today the patriarch will be in Kibuku district where churches in Eastern Uganda will converge for a divine liturgy and on the same day he is expected to inspect all developmental projects in place
In 2016, following misunderstandings with leaders in the Roman Catholic Church, Bishop Kibuuka who was at the level of Neverland Father, broke off the mainstream church to join the Evangelical Orthodox Church where he was later consecrated as Bishop in charge of Eastern and Central Provinces in Uganda.
After his visit in Uganda, the Patriarch will head to Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Cameroon where he is expected to interact with the leaders and believers in those areas.
