EOC Boss Released On Bail

Anti-Corruption Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende has granted bail to Sylvia Muheebwa the Executive Director of Equal Opportunities Commission who is charged with corruption, embezzlement and abuse of office.

This was after Muheebwa presented in court three sureties who were found to be substantial and were not challenged by the prosecution.

Muheebwa was released on a cash bail of 3.5 Million shillings’ and to deposit her passport and land title. Her sureties were also put on a Shs 40million bond each.

The matter will be returning to court on 24th November 2020

The sureties presented in court included Sylivia Namubiru, the Executive Director LAPSNET, Patricia Munaabi Babiha the Executive Director of Forum for Women in Democracy and Julius Mukunda the Executive Director CSBAG.

Due to covid19, the case was heard via video conferencing

Prosecution contends that on 19th November 2019 while being employed as chairperson of Equal Opportunity Commission with other employees of the commission, they conspired to defraud Government.
