Entebbe Airport Registers 10.2% Passenger Traffic Growth

Entebbe International Airport’s traffic performance is rapidly increasing throughout the years, an indication that the aviation industry is growing and moving in the right direction.

By 2018, the airport recorded 1,840,264 passengers, indicating an additional 190,264 passengers more than the 1.65 Million passengers registered in 2017.

Hence, indicating a 10.2% growth, this is believed to have been resulted from the increased number of travels by Ugandans seeking for employment in the Middle East, improved tourism promotion of Uganda’s tourist attractions among others.

The domestic passenger traffic also recorded a 41.9 growth down from 18,824 in 2017 to 26,711 in 2018, while commercial aircraft movements registered a 10.4 growth with rise from 29,327 in 2017 to 32,386 last year.

There was however, decline in exports by air up from 44,635 (9.40%) in 2017, down to 40,440 Tons in 2018.the drop is believed could have resulted partly from the suspension of UN food supplies to south Sudan.
