Kenya Simbas will miss up to eight players who featured for the team when they lost 13-16 to Uganda in the first leg of the Elgon Cup in Kisumu last month.
The team will miss the eight who are on international duties.
Four players who feature for Kabras, a local club in Kenya, travelled down South Africa for further training.
Another five are in Brazil with the nation’s junior team (Under-20) in the World Under-20 Rugby championships in Brazil.
In their absence, coach Paul Odera has added eight new faces including Andrew Amonde, Jacob Ojee, Curtis Lilako, Melvin Thairu, and Fidel Oloo.
The coach believes that the selected players will be able to work the magic.
“Andrew will add some power into the back row as he also gates the powerful runners that Uganda had, Curtis Lilako will come off the bench at tighthead while Jacob Ojee’s pace and experience will be very invaluable to the team,” Odera explained.
“We’ve also included Melvin Thairu in the squad who is a very good ball carrier as well as Fidel Oloo. The inclusion of the senior players brings in the much-needed experience on the pitch and it will be important in decision making as well.
