Elections: Two Candidates Withdraw from Ongoing FDC Party Primaries in Mbale

Two candidates have withdrawn from different positions in the ongoing Forum for Democratic Change party primaries in Mbale City.

In the Northern Division, one of the mayoral position aspiring candidates and a Member of Parliament withdrew from the races citing election rigging.

The Bungokho North Constituency MP Wambede Sizomu Gershom withdrew from the party flag bearer for Northern Division MP race during the elections after accusing the party electoral commission of “inconsistencies.”

“I am already seeing that that election is not fair and on that note, I intend to withdraw from the race,” he noted.

Gershom, who was in the race with two other competitors; Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto and Ronnie Gidudu, said that the party delegates were duplicated.

“When I came here, they were chasing me from here, where should I be? They are denying me my rights,” he noted.

This comes shortly after the incumbent Mbale Mayor declared himself an independent candidate for 2021 elections after being defeated in the party primaries.

On Saturday this week, Abdallatif Kizangi wrote a letter to the FDC Electoral Commission withdrawing from the mayoral race in the Northern Division.
