Ahly have been and still a powerhouse in as far as Women’s volleyball in Africa is concerned. Over years, the team has proved its might and it was the same case this year.

The Egyptian side marked their name in history books once again with their ninth title of the women’s club championship following their exuberant 3-0 (25-9, 29-27, 25-8) victory over 2017 champions Carthage on Thursday at Ahly Hall in Cairo, Egypt.

The hosts dominated right from onset with the first set starting strong and a consistently good of number of points put Ahly ahead of Carthage with a 16-5 lead in the second technical time out. Ahly kept up the lead, celebrating a startling win of 25-9.

A few deceitful serves in the second set put Ahly one step ahead of Carthage despite efforts to claw back throughout the set. The tension rose with each point. As Ahly continued to pick up their form and eventually won the set 29-27.

In the third set all the pieces seemed to fit together for Ahly. The 2016 winners kept regrouping the balance on court so as to avoid having huge holes, leading 16-5 in the second technical time out.

The game eventually turned out to be a one sided show with Ahly wrapping up action in the third set to claim victory.

Kenya’s Pipeline settled for bronze medal after defeating their rivals Kenya Prisons 3-1 in the loser’s match.

Uganda’s representatives Nkumba University and Vision Volleyball Camp(VVC) finished 9th and 11th respectively.
