Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mike J Chibita has on Monday handed over office to his deputy Mr. Charles Elem to be serving in the Acting position, until President Museveni appoints another DPP
Justice Chibita was appointed as Supreme Court judge and was among those who recently took oath at State House in Entebbe.
The hand over was confirmed by the Principal State Attorney Jacquelyn Okui.
Chibita became the Director of Public Prosecutions in 2013.
During his tenure in office he has introduced various reforms including regional offices, case backlog reduction strategies, implementation of the Revised ODPP Structure and Prosecution Case Management System (PROCAMIS) among others.
Mr. Charles Elem-Ogwal joined the Office of the Director Prosecutions soon after it became an independent office
He was promoted to the rank of Assistant DPP in charge of Field Offices and International Affairs.
Soon after he went to the United Nations where he worked with the Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) until 2007
He then worked with the United Nations as a Terrorism Prevention Expert in Uganda until 2010 when he returned to Uganda and was promoted to Deputy DPP in 2014
