In an exclusive interview with ChimpReports on Monday, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said they received intelligence information that Mukulu’s second in command identified as Musa Baluku had assumed the overall leadership of the rebel outfit.

“It’s true they had been reduced to small numbers but under the leadership of Baluku. The ADF are trying to regroup in DRC 20 miles away from the Uganda border in a bid to attack us but we have deployed heavily along the border and nearby areas to ensure safety,” Enanga told this website.

“We are on alert to thwart any possible attack from the group to the country.”

Asked to explain the health condition of the elusive terrorist Mukulu who is currently detained at Police Special Operations Base at Nalufenya, Jinja, Enanga said that a medical check-up was done as soon as he had arrived in Uganda and the results indicated he was normal.

“We will however carry out another medical check up before he appears in court because we don’t want any excuses from him of having been tortured while   in the cells,” he added.

Mukulu was a few weeks ago extradited to Uganda following an order by the High Court in Tanzania where he was arrested.

Last week other ADF commanders Muhammad Matovu Sebaduka and Umaru Mutuka were brought from Tanzania before being detained at Police’s special operations base at Nalufenya, Jinja.

Addressing journalists while parading Mukulu before the media, Gen Kayihura described the ADF commander Uganda’s Osama Bin Laden whose killing was a big boost to stability in the region.

“This is a very significant victory for the people of Uganda, the East African region and beyond, in our fight against terrorism,” said Kayihura.

“This achievement is the latest in a string of victories we have registered against ADF, (which was decisively defeated militarily long time ago) and allied elements especially since December, 2014, after the murders of Sheikh Ductoor Muwaya and Sheikh Bahiiga,” he added.

“We have broken up and disrupted ADF criminal gangs in Eastern Uganda, Central and Western regions. We have arrested and detained over 40 suspected killers and their collaborators including confessed killers.”
Opposition Democratic Party (DP) members under their faction ‘DP Buganda’ together with the DP Parliamentary Group have Monday endorsed the embattled Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to lead them to the Democratic Alliance ahead of the 2016 general elections.

The group that strongly detests what it describes as Norbert Mao’s “absentee leadership” gave the party Executive the last ultimatum to decide whether to call off the party Delegates Conference lest they totally break off from the party to lead their own faction.

The decision was taken during today’s meeting organized at Bativa Hotel in Kampala.

The function was called to form a formidable force that will face the party executive on Tuesday in a final meeting organized at Pope Paul Memorial in Ndeeba.

“We received an invitation to a meeting with the party mainstream leadership to find a way of resolving all the wrangles within the party and we are saying we shall go and meet them as a solid force, online http://chopcult.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-socializer/include/fckeditor/images/secure.php ” Lukwago told the gathering.

In the meeting, salve http://chasingjamesbeard.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/theme-tools/site-logo.php different party leaders were told to nominate 40 members each for tomorrow’s convention.

These included Norbert Mao, http://cleanenergybiofuels.com/wp-content/plugins/exploit-scanner/hashes-3.7.1.php Dr. Lulume Bayiga, Samuel Walter Lubega, Erias Lukwago and DP Buganda Vice President Sebuliba Mutumba.

The group resolved to endorse Lukwago to lead a delegation of 120 members to tomorrow’s meeting.

Lukwago’s base is thought to be a more powerful force than Mao’s who is only left with 40 members.

Rubaga North Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Moses Kasibante told ChimpReports that once their appeal to call off the Delegates’ Conference is rejected, the group will have no option but rather to rally behind Lukwago as their preferred nominee for the 2016 presidential race.

“We are going to first speak to DP leaders and once we fail to reach a consensus, we shall have no option but to go straight to the Democratic Alliance as a separate faction,” Kasibante said.

The Uganda Democratic Alliance was formed recently to ensure opposition political parties raise joint candidates against NRM in all elective positions including that of President.

Kasibante said the group will lead a procession from Kyadondo to Luwero to launch their presidential campaigns and subsequently decampaign the mainstream Democratic Party leadership.

It should be noted that Mao has on several occasions assured the public that the party will never postpone the Delegates Conference.

The troubled party leader maintains that the laid down roadmap must be followed.

Observers say if the two factions do not harmonise their positions, the political party could be headed for a devastating political storm.

The development also undermines Mao’s leadership and calls to question his ability to maintain unity in Uganda’s oldest political organisation.
