Doreen Nyanjura Promises to Deliver as KCCA Finance Boss

The newly installed Kampala Capital City Authority Secretary for Finance and Administration, Doreen Nyanjura has promised to deliver to the expectations of her appointing authority and Kampala in general.

Ms. Nyanjura was nominated and inaugurated by the 3rd seating of the Kampala Capital City Authority Council on Tuesday. The appointment follows the amendment of the KCCA act that also created the position for a Speaker among others.

“My heartfelt appreciations go to the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago for nominating and trusting me with yet another mandate, your worship, I will deliver to your expectations,” said Nyanjura.

Her docket encompasses the Directorates of Treasury Services, Internal Audit, Legal Affairs, Administration and Human Resources Management, and Revenue Collection.

Nyanjura also commended the fellow Councilors for putting their trust in her by unanimously endorsing her appointment.

“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to my fellow Councilors for the kind words they spoke about me at the nomination and for their immense confidence in me,” she added.

The Forum for Democratic Change strong woman, who also represents Makerere University at the City Hall, didn’t forget about her electorates and the party.

“Sincere thanks to my electorate at Makerere University, the people of Kampala and my Party- the FDC upon which I anchor myself to serve our beloved country.”


Other KCCA Executive Committee members include Okello Kennedy, the Kyambogo University Councilor endorsed as Works Minister to take charge of Directorates of Engineering and Technical Services as well as Physical Planning. The Woman Councillor of Kyambogo University, Namazzi Olive K is now Health, Education, Sports, and Environment Minister in charge of Directorates of Education and Social Services, Sports and Public Health & Environment.

Nyanjura noted that they took office when the 2020/2021 budget has already been passed and therefore their major duty is going to be monitoring and ensuring proper accountability for the resources as budgeted and allocated.
