Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz is undoubtedly one of the best music talents Africa has had and the boy from Tandale just proved his music dominance by reaching a new milestone.
Despite his constant battles with the Tanzanian content regulatory body BASATA over his explicit music videos, the ‘African Beauty’ hitmaker has filled 7 spots on YouTube’s list of top 10 most viewed music videos in Tanzania.
According to the list that was released earlier this week, Diamond Platinumz’s collaboration with Harmonize ‘Kwangwaru’ takes the first spot with 35.6M views, ‘African Beauty’, a collaboration with American singer Omarion comes in the second place with 28.8M views while another collaboration with Rayvanny ‘Iyena’ round up the top 3 with 12.9M views.
Other songs that made it to the cut include Katika, Jibebe, Baila, and the controversial ‘Mwanza’.
Meanwhile the remaining 3 spots on the list were occupied by his Wasafi Record Label artists Mbosso, Rayvanny and Harmonize.
This comes barely a month after the Tanzanian government through BASATA banned the singer from performing both in and out of Taqnzania following his contravention on an earlier ban on his ‘Mwanza’ song that the authorities say is vulgar.
Diamond hit back saying he pays a huge tax amount through music to the Tanzanian government so he should be allowed to produce and perform his songs freely.
