Diamond Platinumz Opens up On Using Music For Social Good

Tanzanian singer Nasibu Dangote popularly known as Diamond Platinumz has opened up on what inspired him to start his own record label ‘Wasafi’ records.

The label has so far seen singers including; Harmonize and Rayvanny among others come up as house hold names in the region.

The ‘African Beauty’ hitmaker disclosed that the need to use his musical gifts for social good and give back to as many people as he can in whatever capacity he is given, informed his decision.

Speaking in an interview with NTV ‘The Beat’s’ Sammy Gideon, he said he did not just bump into being a fully-fledged artist singlehandedly, but someone gave him the platform which is why he wants to return the favor.

“I believe it’s not me who empowered myself to be here, I was empowered by fans. I cannot say that I am rich but just this little influence that I have, I want to use it in a very positive way to empower others and it’s what I am exactly doing.”

The singer also revealed that running a successful record label takes a lot of sacrifice on his part as he foregoes promoting his own career sometimes just to see his signees thrive.

“You don’t have to drop your song sometimes so that your artist can drop theirs and sometimes you don’t go to an event because your artist will be there so that the attention will not shift from them to you,” He elaborated.
